Before Writing His Resignation, Zeinalyan Had a Notable Conversation with Pashinyan: The Background of His Resignation
The newspaper «Hraparak» reports: “Before writing the resignation application, Artak Zeinalyan had a notable conversation with Nikol Pashinyan. About two weeks ago, when news about dissatisfaction with Zeinalyan from the authorities was just beginning to circulate, he entered the Prime Minister's office to clarify the truth of those reports. Pashinyan said everything was fine and told him to get to work.
One day before his resignation, Zeinalyan again approached Pashinyan with the same question, citing a well-known discussion within the ‘My Step’ faction, during which several members spoke so loudly about Zeinalyan that their voices were audible to journalists waiting in the adjacent room. They claimed that Zeinalyan was delaying the development of the transitional justice concept and the vetting project, hence he should resign.
In a brief conversation the day before his resignation, Pashinyan told Zeinalyan that it was the political team that decided on the appropriateness of his tenure. That is why Zeinalyan stated regarding his resignation, ‘Evaluating the information flow through the media and not only via media, I have made such a decision to submit my resignation application.’
