VIDEO: Impersonated Official and Embezzled Money
The National Security Service of Armenia has provided information to the Police's Organized Crime Department about a 27-year-old man living in Yerevan who is involved in fraudulent activities. Based on the gathered information, police officers identified that the young man had deceived various individuals and embezzled large sums of money.
Specifically, he posed as an official in the Armenian government, under the pretext of preparing documents for purchasing an apartment in a residential complex being built under a government program, and fraudulently extorted 540,000 drams from one victim.
From another person, he fraudulently collected 325,000 drams by promising to facilitate the process of declaring their son as an orphan in a short period. In this case, he also presented himself as a high-ranking government official.
Additionally, he exploited another woman's trust, promising to secure a job for her son in the government, and demanded 125,000 drams. He also extorted a total of 250,000 drams from two young men by promising them an advantage in participating in car auctions.
The victims of the young man's actions have been summoned to the police, where their statements have been recorded. A criminal case has been initiated at the police based on the grounds of embezzling large amounts of property through deception. The criminal case has been forwarded to the Investigative Committee for further examination.
