Major and Tragic Car Accident in Gegharkunik Region: One Dead and Injured

Today, on June 10, a major and tragic car accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 18:00, a head-on collision happened in the administrative area of Sarukhani village involving two vehicles: a Toyota Corolla, driven by 34-year-old Vardan Movsesyan from the village of Karar Gugh in Gegharkunik region, with license plate 60 FA 909, and a VAZ 2109, driven by 55-year-old Sasun Tonoyan from Sarukhani village, with license plate C 388 EDM.

According to photo-journalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, the driver of the VAZ 2109 died at the scene, while his passenger, fellow villager 52-year-old Nadezhda Tonoyan, was extricated from the vehicle with a diagnosis of “extremely severe” injuries and transported to the medical center in Gavar.

Based on the incident, a criminal case has been initiated by A. Sukiasyan.
