Extraordinary Presidential Elections in Kazakhstan
In Kazakhstan, 9,970 polling stations opened today at 07:00 local time (48 stations opened at 06:00). The voting for the extraordinary presidential elections will continue until 20:00. Kazakh citizens abroad will have access to 65 polling stations in 51 countries, reports a correspondent for News.am from Kazakhstan.
Seven candidates are vying for the position of country leader: Zhambyl Akhmetbekov (Communist People's Party), Daniya Yespayeva (Ak Zhol Party), Amirzhan Kosanov (National Patriotic Movement 'Fate of the Nation'), Toleutai Rakhimbekov (Aul Party), Amangeldy Taspikhov (Kazakhstan's Trade Union Federation), Kassym-Jomart Tokayev (current president from the Nur Otan party), and Sadibek Tugel (Union of Great Steppe Eagles).
In 2019, a record 9.4 billion tenge (approximately 24.6 million dollars) was spent for the conduct of Kazakhstan's extraordinary presidential elections.
