Hot Air Balloon with Tourists Crashes in Khosrov Forest; People Rescued by Helicopter

This morning, a hot air balloon filled with tourists crashed in Khosrov Forest. The balloon had taken off from Garni, but due to a lack of wind, it could not continue its flight and ended up in a part of the Khosrov Forest where vehicle access is impossible.

Tourists were assisted and evacuated by a helicopter from Armenian Helicopters.

Aram Abovyan, director of the commercial division of Armenian Helicopters, told Haykakan Jamanak that there were 8 tourists on board, including 6 adults and 2 small children. Fortunately, no one was injured, although they were left without water for a while under the sun. He mentioned that the helicopter went to the nearest point in the forest and evacuated the people in two groups before transporting them back to Garni.
