In connection with the criminal case initiated for shooting at the supporters of Sameul Babayan, Alexey Balayan, the son of one of the founders of the 'Liberation Army', Vladimir Balayan, along with former mayor of Karvachar Roland Aydinyan, has been arrested. This was reported to NEWS.am by Naira Harutyunyan, the head of the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
They have been charged under Part 2 of Article 235 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (Illegal acquisition, possession, or transportation of weapons and ammunition, committed by a group of persons with prior agreement, punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to six years).
It is noteworthy that on May 29, Sameul Babayan's office issued a statement claiming that around 3:30 AM on May 29, supporters of Sameul Babayan were pursued on the Sevan-Martuhi highway by a gang known to the residents of Artsakh. "Since the incident took place in this section of the territory of Armenia and the victims are also citizens of Armenia, we call on all relevant authorities, especially the NSS of Armenia, to pursue the process of locating and neutralizing this gang, otherwise, all of this could end in bloodshed," it stated.
