The Fast-spreading News About a Rogue Officer Who Embezzled Equipment Was Long Ago: Arzrun Hovhannisyan

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, Arzrun Hovhannisyan, has responded to today’s media reports regarding an officer from the Defense Army who allegedly siphoned fuel from combat vehicles in exchange for water.

“I would have preferred not to comment on this topic, but I feel compelled: the fast-spreading news about a rogue officer who has embezzled equipment has actually been known for a long time, and he was not acting alone; several people, both officers and soldiers, were involved,” Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook page.

“The case was uncovered long ago with all its legal implications. I deeply regret all of this; however, unfortunately, we do have rogues among us. I ask that this matter not be linked to any external or internal phenomena, as it is a classic crime that is reaching its deserved legal resolution,” he added.
