Details on Mel Daluzyan's Stabbing Incident

The Armenian Embassy in the Netherlands reports that weightlifter Mel Daluzyan, who sustained injuries during a robbery, has been transported by helicopter to a hospital, where he remains as of now.

“According to the information available to the embassy, he will stay in the hospital for several more days,” the embassy stated in a message.

Recall that the two-time European champion and bronze medalist of the world, Mel Daluzyan's friend posted on Facebook, informing that two masked individuals armed with a knife attempted to rob the cash register of the Albert Heijn supermarket in the center of Amsterdam yesterday afternoon, threatening the employee. Mel Daluzyan, who had come to the aid of the employee, was stabbed.

The friend also noted that Mel was shopping at the time and, upon witnessing the incident, came to assist the employee and managed to subdue the robbers. The police arrived at the scene and arrested them.

“Unfortunately, before the police could arrive, one of the criminals managed to inflict deep knife wounds on Mel in the chest and back. Nevertheless, even while injured, Mel did not allow them to escape,” he wrote.
