Two Statues on the Yerevan-Sevan Highway to Be Restored
By government decision, funds will be allocated to the Ministry of Culture for the restoration of two statues along the Yerevan-Sevan interstate highway.
Acting Minister of Culture Nazeni Gharebyan stated that 9 million 144 thousand drams are required for the acquisition of project documentation and expertise for the restoration of the two sculptural monuments, "Road Builders" and "Echo," located in the Kotayk province.
"The statues were installed along the Yerevan-Sevan interstate highway and are now in a catastrophic condition. Not only have climate conditions affected them, but they have also been subjected to looting, that is, cultural vandalism. Today, these sculptures truly need restoration," said Gharebyan. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan deemed the restoration of these monuments essential. He emphasized that important symbols that represent creative life must be restored in Armenia.
"Every time I pass that road and see that skeleton on the heights of Charentsavan, it symbolizes our problems, and we must definitely restore it. Within the framework of these projects, we must ensure that there is a police checkpoint there," noted the Prime Minister.
