What Assets Did Gagik Harutyunyan Leave Behind?

As it has already become known, Gagik Harutyunyan, the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, has submitted his resignation.

Irakanum.am reports that Gagik Harutyunyan has been one of the prominent figures in the Armenian political arena and within the ruling elite. He has managed to serve all governments faithfully and execute their orders. Being a part of the ruling pyramid, Harutyunyan has also secured positions for his relatives.

Thus, the media states: "Gagik Harutyunyan's brother, Arzumanyan Harutyunyan, is the Deputy Director of the National Security Service. Recently, reports emerged that Arzumanyan has been relieved of his position. Gagik Harutyunyan's nephew, Hayk Harutyunyan, who is the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, held the position of Deputy Minister of Energy.

Gagik Harutyunyan's sister, Shamamal Harutyunyan, is the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. Previously, she was the head of the State Employment Service Agency within the same ministry. Harutyunyan's daughter, Armine Harutyunyan, is the chief physician at Polyclinic No. 8 and works as a department head at the Beglaryan Medical Center owned by her father-in-law.

Harutyunyan's son, Artak Harutyunyan, is the head of the corruption and organized crime department at the Prosecutor General's Office. Previously, he held the position of deputy head of the cybercrime department within the national security authorities.

Another son of Harutyunyan, Eduard Harutyunyan, holds several positions at Yerevan State University, including Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department, department head, and deputy chief of the rector's staff.

Harutyunyan has kinship ties with the brother of the first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan; the daughter of doctor Kamo Ter-Petrosyan is Harutyunyan's daughter-in-law.

During his long tenure in office, Gagik Harutyunyan has managed not only to secure positions for his relatives but also to amass considerable wealth. According to Harutyunyan's declaration submitted to the Ethics Commission of High-Ranking Officials, as of the day he assumed the presidency of the Supreme Judicial Council, he possesses 4,083,358 Armenian drams (approximately $9 million), $5,900, and €2,300. Harutyunyan has declared one apartment, one private house, a land plot, and a public-use building.
