Suspect in Murder of 'Ararat 2' Goalkeeper Found: Details

On the night of April 15, the Kanaker-Zeytun Division of the police received a report from the Mikayelyan hospital that two young men had been transported for medical assistance with gunshot wounds.

Minutes later, another call was made to the Kanaker-Zeytun Division from the Kanaker-Zeytun Medical Center, reporting that another young man with a gunshot wound was receiving treatment.

One of the injured, a 23-year-old man, died shortly after being hospitalized without regaining consciousness.

A criminal case was initiated by the territorial investigation body on the grounds of murder. Officers from the Kanaker-Zeytun Division, in cooperation with criminal investigators from other units, quickly determined that the incident occurred in the vicinity of building number 25 on Lepsius Street in Yerevan. A thorough examination of the crime scene revealed .762 mm caliber cartridges, a bullet, and blood-like traces.

Expert examinations were appointed. As a result of extensive investigative measures, police officers clarified several circumstances of the incident. According to preliminary data, the shots were fired at the young men by a 23-year-old resident of Lepsius Street. Through operational investigative measures and follow-up actions, the information was substantiated, and a manhunt was announced for him.

To promptly locate the individual wanted for a particularly serious crime, officers from the Kanaker-Zeytun Division sent directives to other territorial units. Following diligent work, detectives from the Sevan Division of the police received operational information that the suspect was hiding in one of the resorts in Sevan. The information was acted upon in collaboration with the officers from the main department of criminal investigation and the Gegharkunik regional administration.

As a result, on May 23, the fugitive was found and taken to the Sevan Division of the police, from where he was transferred to Yerevan and handed over to the initiating authority of the manhunt. Joint operations between police and investigative committee officials are ongoing to clarify all circumstances of the incident. The preliminary investigation continues.
