Light Discussion on Narine Tukhikyan's Candidacy for Deputy Minister of Culture

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that the candidacy of Narine Tukhikyan, a deputy from the "My Step" alliance, is under discussion for the position of Deputy Minister of Culture in the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. There are expected to be two deputy ministers in the cultural sector.

The deputy did not deny our information: "There has been a light discussion, but there is still no response and final decision from either me or the government." However, before moving to the executive branch, Tukhikyan mentioned that she needs to clarify "some issues," which will determine whether she will accept the position or not: "These are work-related questions, of course."

Do you think that work in the executive is more burdensome? "No. Of course, it is heavier, but not better paid; it is not about that, but about work and responsibilities. I have never been afraid of a burden."

Perhaps you need to clarify whether you will be a placeholder deputy minister or one who will formulate policies for the sector? “I will answer like this: if my ideas and those of the government or minister are aligned in the same direction, and our vision is largely the same, then it is possible. Those questions are still open, which is why I say it is not final."

More details are available in today’s issue of the newspaper.
