Samvel Karapetyan Denies Meeting with Armenian Oligarchs

Armenian hero of Artsakh and Major General Samvel Karapetyan (known as ‘Samvel Oganovski’) has issued a statement condemning those spreading misinformation about him. According to Artsakhpress.am, the statement reads:

“Dear compatriots,
Today, some media outlets have circulated ‘information’ claiming that ‘a few days ago, representatives of the Karabakh military elite and Armenian oligarchs gathered at the residence of a well-known businessman in Armenia,’ and that ‘the gathering was organized by former Deputy Minister of Defense Samvel Karapetyan...’ This has no basis in reality. It is a vile and provocative piece of misinformation that ‘the participants of the gathering pledged to do everything to topple the government of Nikol Pashinyan.’ It is also mentioned that ‘Samvel Aleksanyan was present at the gathering.’

In light of the above, I consider it my duty to inform lovers of ‘news from thin air’ or anonymous sources about the following: my mission and the supreme goal of myself and fellow freedom fighters (including both active and retired generals) is not to engage in revolution or counter-revolution, but rather to stand ready to defend the Homeland if necessary.

Rest assured that a military officer, wounded four times on the battlefield and having lost hundreds of heroic comrades, cannot act as a divider of the Armenian unity, and thereby weaken our national resilience. Meanwhile, today, consciously or unconsciously, those spreading such provocative misinformation have no aim other than a criminal attempt to distort our people’s unity.
