Statement of Political Forces of Artsakh's National Assembly Regarding Events in Armenia
The political forces of the National Assembly of Artsakh— the "Free Homeland" party, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, the Democratic Party of Artsakh, and the "Movement-88" party— have issued a statement expressing their concern regarding the unfolding events in Armenia, as well as deeming the extreme manifestations of rising tensions as alarming developments that threaten the essential foundations of national security.
The statement reads:
“There is deep concern in Artsakh regarding the events unfolding in the Republic of Armenia’s capital Yerevan and other cities in recent days. It is not difficult to imagine the feeling of security that is critically needed for every Armenian living in Artsakh and for the soldier defending the border.
Our statehood is a sacred thing for all Armenians worldwide, achieved at the cost of thousands of irreparable losses and sacrifices. Just two years ago, during the April War, we were convinced of how fragile peace is at the borders of Artsakh and Armenia, and how strong the Armenian soldier is when he has the security of the nation prioritizing and a society that maintains the foundations of statehood unbroken in the background.
Extremely concerning are the developments characterized by heightened tensions that threaten essential foundations of national security—internal stability and the state’s defensive capacity. Our people have always managed to honorably overcome the challenges before them thanks to wisdom and unity.
The political forces of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh call upon the wisdom and foresight of the Armenian people to refrain from actions that escalate the situation and to resolve the created circumstances peacefully through legality and dialogue for the sake of the homeland's peace and nationwide solidarity.”
