Pashinyan's Call is an Attack on Constitutional Order, Ruben Melikyan
The NGO "Legal Path," founded by former Ombudsman of Artsakh Ruben Melikyan, has addressed Pashinyan's call to close all courts tomorrow morning.
"Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has instructed the citizens of Armenia to block all courts in the Republic of Armenia. This disrupts the functioning of the courts as a constitutional institution that protects human rights and resolves disputes based on law, effectively suspending the operation of Articles 1, 3, and 4 of the RA Constitution. This, from a criminal law perspective, constitutes an attack on the constitutional order.
1) To the President of the Republic, in the framework of his powers to ensure the observance of the RA Constitution, to take measures to prevent the disruption of the functioning of the Judicial Authority, as well as to inform the ambassadors of the partner countries of the Republic of Armenia and international organizations involving the Republic about the current situation and to issue a message regarding this.
2) To the political system of the Republic of Armenia and the institutions of civil society to provide an appropriate assessment of the situation.
3) To the diplomatic representations of foreign states and international organizations accredited in the Republic of Armenia to strongly condemn the Prime Minister’s attempt to effectively suspend Armenia's obligations in the sphere of democracy and human rights.
