Police Special Operation in Shirak: Several Individuals Detained
According to information from SAHMSHAN.com, on May 17, the police's Organized Crime Prevention (6th) main department, the Drug Trafficking Control department of the same department, the Shirak regional police department, and the Artik police division conducted a special operation in the Shirak region.
Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports that around 01:30, under suspicion of illegal possession, preparation, and use of drugs, 36-year-old Armen Mkhitaryan, a resident of Gyumri, was detained in front of the address 1 Tonakanyan street in Artik. He was in his vehicle along with passengers, 32-year-old Edmond Grigoryan and 38-year-old Tigran Tadevosyan, both from Gyumri.
After some time, the police detained 38-year-old Artak Movsisyan, a resident of the village of Pemzashen in Shirak, from his vehicle on Abovyan street in Artik. He had a passenger, 34-year-old Aram Avdalyan, who is also from Artik.
Subsequent to that, on Shinararnakan street in Artik, police detained 24-year-old Hovhannes Margaryan from Panik village, who was driving a Nissan Tiida, along with his passengers—23-year-old Simavon Mardoyan, 23-year-old Tigran Aslanyan, and 25-year-old David Aslanyan from Artik, who was in his VAZ-2106 vehicle.
According to G. Shamshyan, during personal searches and vehicle inspections, 0.62 grams of cannabis seeds were found in the right pocket of Davit Aslanyan's pants. He informed the police that the seeds belonged to him. Additionally, 25.84 grams of a dried, crushed plant substance with a distinctive odor was discovered under the seat and floor mat on the right side of Mkhitaryan's vehicle.
At around 03:30 on the same day, H. Margaryan's Nissan Tiida was inspected, uncovering 2 packages weighing a total of 9.59 grams in the compartment for storing items in the cabin. Davit Aslanyan informed the police that the contents of these packages were drugs and belonged to him. All those detained were subsequently released.
