On May 16, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Yerevan.

According to the Yerevan Municipality, on Avetisyan Street, a bus numbered 8 reportedly stopped in an unintended location. A middle-aged woman who exited the bus tried to cross the street in front of a vehicle.

At that moment, a bus numbered 3 traveling in the same direction struck the woman who was crossing the street in an area not designated for pedestrian traffic. The impact resulted in her death.

As reported by Shamshyan.com, the driver did not flee the scene and attempted to assist the injured pedestrian; however, the emergency medical team that arrived quickly declared her dead.

A criminal case has been initiated based on the second part of Article 242 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The police and investigative department are working to identify the driver and the deceased. The driver’s condition worsened, requiring on-site medical professionals to provide him with first aid before transferring him to the “Saint Gregory the Illuminator” medical center.
