Large Cache of Illegal Weapons Discovered in Geghanist, One Person Arrested

Police officers from the Arabkir division received operational information about illegal weapons and ammunition on May 13, on the basis of which a criminal case was initiated in the division's investigation department, according to the police website.

On May 14, as part of the initiated criminal case and based on a court order, Arabkir police searched a house in the village of Geghanist in the Ararat province, discovering a large quantity of illegally held weapons and ammunition.

A "Kalashnikov" rifle with its serial number covered in paint, various types of single-barrel shotguns, three grenades, explosives weighing a total of 800 grams, and over 90 cartridges of various calibers along with magazines loaded with ammunition and other military items were seized and packaged for forensic examination.

The owner of the house, a 55-year-old man identified as G.B., has been taken into custody by the Arabkir police and arrested.

Arabkir police, in cooperation with colleagues from other territorial units, are conducting investigative measures to determine the source of the discovered weapons and ammunition.

The investigation is ongoing.
