Why Was the President of Russia's Visit to Armenia Delayed?

The newspaper "168 Hours" reports: "There are no dark corners in Armenian-Russian relations, but there have been some nuances or disagreements after the changes that took place in Armenia. Russia has accepted these changes and has not responded in the way it used to respond to similar situations long ago," Russian expert Alexey Malashenko said in an interview with a correspondent from "168 Hours" regarding Armenian-Russian relations and the upcoming visit of the Russian president to Armenia.

According to him, naturally, the problem created around the CSTO Secretary-General, which has led to significant uproar, could not have gone unnoticed by Moscow; it was an undesirable development. Certain topics raised within the EAEU suggest that the new authorities in Armenia have new approaches and expectations from Armenian-Russian relations and integration structures. Understanding this and adjusting to the new situation requires a new approach. "I believe that this adaptation phase is not yet over. However, a noticeable change in Yerevan's rhetoric is also evident, which I believe will find a corresponding response in Moscow," he noted.

Meanwhile, Russian analyst Stanislav Tarasov stated that the postponement of Putin's visit was undoubtedly a consequence of certain problems. According to him, after coming to power, the Armenian Prime Minister made statements that were not received well in Moscow, raising concerns. Furthermore, previous developments were also alarming because Russia had cooperated with the previous administration and had confidence that they were fully controlling the situation, so the changes in power were unexpected. However, he noted that the Armenian authorities are starting to make more adequate political statements.
