No Rector Elected Again at Shirak State University
After nearly 9 hours of competition, a new rector was not elected for Shirak State University (ShPU) once again. There were four candidates for the rector position. Initially, in a closed and secret ballot, both Andranik Sarkissian and Lusine Fljyan received the maximum but equal number of 6 votes from the four candidates. Following this, a second round of the competition was announced; however, neither of the two candidates received more than 13 votes, which is required by the charter, from the board of trustees. Andranik Sarkissian received 9 votes, while Lusine Fljyan received 6.
This is the second time in a row that the rector has not been elected in the competition. The issue of announcing a new competition will be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the board of trustees. The competition will likely take place later, as the mandates of six members of the board of trustees will expire in a month.
It is worth reminding that in the March competition, the main competitors were also the same two candidates.
