Details on the Knife Attack of Two Minors in Ararat

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has disclosed the details surrounding the knife attack involving minors that took place in the Ararat region. One individual has been arrested.

According to the information and public relations department of the Investigative Committee, preliminary data indicates that on May 9, 2019, around 10 PM, a resident of the Ararat region, born in 2001, got into a dispute with two minor fellow villagers over personal insults. During the altercation, he used a knife he was carrying to strike and inflict bodily harm on them.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Ararat regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee based on Article 112, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

As a result of the conducted investigative and procedural actions, the location and motive of the incident were established. The young man born in 2001 has been arrested.

During the site examination, samples of blood-like traces were found and taken, a forensic medical examination has been appointed, and confiscations have been made.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Notification: The suspect or the accused in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty by a court ruling that has entered into legal force, in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
