Luggage of Leaders and Family Members of EAEU Member States Will Not Be Checked

At the May 10 meeting of the RA government, among other issues, there is a proposal to approve the signing of the protocol on amendments to the EAEU Customs Code dated April 11, 2017.

The draft protocol was approved by the Eurasian Economic Council's decree No. 40 on December 5, 2018, and submitted to the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union for internal coordination procedures.

The protocol stipulates amendments to Article 321 of the EAEU Customs Code, which outlines exemptions from certain forms of customs control by customs authorities. In particular, it proposes to exempt the personal luggage of leaders of EAEU member states and their accompanying family members from customs inspection, as well as the personal luggage of heads of governments of EAEU member states and their accompanying family members.

The proposal also includes adding to the list of officials of the Republic of Armenia whose personal luggage is not subject to customs inspection as defined by the aforementioned article.

Given the above, the government finds it appropriate to sign this protocol.
