Jrahovit Community Administration Embezzles Over 3 Million Drams; Criminal Case Initiated

The Prosecutor's Office of Ararat Province has initiated a criminal case regarding the alleged embezzlement of a substantial amount using official position and official forgery within the Jrahovit community administration. This information was reported by the Armenian General Prosecutor's Office.

Based on data obtained from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Armenian Police, as well as reports from several community residents, it was revealed that the head of the Jrahovit community, taking advantage of his official position, employed his two daughters-in-law in the community administration as a janitor and a guard during various periods from 2011 to 2018. However, the two did not actually attend work or perform their duties.

Despite this, a total of 3,187,817 AMD was transferred to their designated bank cards as salaries during the specified period, which is believed to have been embezzled by the head of the Jrahovit community.

It was also found that the officials of the community administration introduced blatantly false information regarding the attendance of these employees in the official documents that record work hours, based on which the amounts allocated for salaries were disbursed in their names.

Considering that the prepared materials contain indications of criminal acts involving the use of official position to commit embezzlement of a large amount and official forgery by the responsible officials of the Jrahovit community administration, and that it is necessary to establish the circumstances through a complete, objective, and comprehensive investigation, a criminal case has been initiated by the decision of the prosecutor of Ararat Province under Article 179, Part 3, Point 1, and Article 314, Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been entrusted to the Ararat Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
