Armed Robbery Attempt in Zartonq Village

The investigation into the armed robbery that occurred in the village of Zartonq, Armavir province, has been completed by the Armavir regional investigative department of the Republic of Armenia's Investigative Committee. Charges have been presented against two residents of the same province, as reported by the public relations department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

According to the data obtained during the investigation, two residents of the village of Armavir, born in 1979 and 1986, agreed to steal money from a resident of Zartonq village. On November 28, 2018, around 11:00 PM, they entered the house masked and armed with an “AK-74” type assault rifle and an electric shock baton. They also brought adhesive tape and polymer ties with them, and illegally entered the house by climbing over the stone fence, threatening to use violence dangerous to life and health.

The owner of the house shouted for help, prompting the parents to rush to her aid. They were able to disarm and apprehend one of the alleged criminals, while the other took the firearm and fled.

The investigation also revealed that a 33-year-old resident of Armavir village illegally manufactured and stored a significant quantity of marijuana, weighing 11.736 grams, which was discovered during a search of his home.

Based on sufficient evidence, the 33-year-old resident of Armavir has been charged under Article 175, Part 2, Points 1, 3, and 4, Article 235, Part 1, and Article 268, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. A 39-year-old resident from the same village has also been charged under Article 175, Part 2, Points 1, 3, and 4, and Article 235, Part 1. Both have been taken into custody as a measure of constraint.

The investigation has concluded, and the criminal case has been sent to the court with an accusatory conclusion.
