2.8 Million Drams Embezzlement: Charges Filed Against Former Head of Haytag Community

The investigation by the Armavir regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee regarding the embezzlement cases committed by the head of the Haytag community has been concluded. The former official has been charged, according to the press office of the RA Investigative Committee.

According to the information obtained during the investigation, the head of the Haytag community, who held office from 2002 until August 13, 2018, had the authority to provide agricultural fertilizers at affordable prices for land users in Armenia through the state programs for wheat seed breeding and seed production. He committed embezzlement, causing significant damage to the state amounting to 2,879,700 drams in total.

As part of these programs, he also engaged in official forgery, creating, validating, and circulating false official documents.

Specifically, the community leader, born in 1959, used his official position to receive the first reproduction autumn wheat seed provided to the Haytag community from the RA Ministry of Agriculture's Seed Agency through the Armavir Regional Administration. Intending to steal the seeds allocated for the community's land users, the leader forged an official document which contained a false list of individuals who received seeds in the Haytag community, submitted it to the Armavir Regional Administration, and embezzled seeds issued under the names of individuals who were neither listed nor had purchased any seeds.

Based on the sufficient combination of collected evidence, charges were filed against the head of the Haytag community under parts 1 and 3 of Article 179 and part 1 of Article 314 of the RA Criminal Code. The precautionary measure chosen for him is a signature not to leave.

The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case with an accusatory conclusion has been sent to court.
