Will the Police Purchase Dodge Charger Vehicles? Clarification

There have been reports suggesting that the vehicles designated for the newly forming patrol police of the Republic of Armenia might be Dodge Charger models. In response to this, the Police have issued a clarification, stating:

“Dear citizens, there have been criticisms on social media regarding the alleged purchase or preparation for the purchase of Dodge Charger vehicles by the Police of the Republic of Armenia. Some citizens have raised concerns that due to the engine power of the mentioned vehicle, the fuel costs would be unjustifiably high and lead to inefficient spending of budgetary funds.

We would like to inform you that any potential purchase of vehicles for the newly established patrol service of the police will be conducted exclusively through a competitive process, ensuring equal conditions for all participants in the competition. The technical assignment will be designed with four main components:

1. Safety of the personnel operating the vehicle,
2. Fuel consumption,
3. Current maintenance costs of the fleet and procurement of spare parts,
4. Presence of necessary technical and tactical capabilities for carrying out police duties.

As of now, the Police have not purchased any Dodge Charger vehicles. The mentioned vehicle is not available in the Armenian market, and it was determined to practically assess its capabilities, which, by the way, has not incurred any costs.

Continuing its transparent approach, the Police will regularly provide information to the public regarding the progress and outcomes of this important reform program. The reforms will not be limited to just acquiring new vehicles; they will be profound, implying a completely new level of operational procedures, police professional training, modern armaments, technical equipment, and the application of information technologies, which will ultimately bring systemic changes to the entire police force in the next 5-10 years.
