Increase in Salaries of City Hall Employees is Necessary, Says Prime Minister's Advisor
Increase in salaries for city hall employees is necessary, just like for the entire state system. This was stated by Mesrop Arakelyan, an advisor to the Prime Minister of Armenia and an economist, on his Facebook page.
In his post, he specifically mentioned:
“However, I believe there is considerable room for reform in the existing staff list. In particular, the number of deputy heads in small departments and the positions in administrative districts, which should be based on the population and area of the administrative district, are problematic. The number of social service workers also deserves examination.”
“In general, the basis for the staff list should be the functions derived from the objectives.”
“It is evident that the inflated staff list aimed to serve the previous authorities, and I am confident that the new city government will be much bolder than the proposal presented.”
In response, David Khachakyan, the leader of the Yerevan City Council’s Luring faction, stated: “One of the largest departments, the Financial Department, has been left without a deputy head, while the overall staff list has increased by dozens.”
