70,000 to 100,000 Armenian Citizens Working in Turkey May Face Deportation

The newspaper "Pakat" reports that significant developments are anticipated soon in Turkey regarding the mass deportation of Armenian citizens. It is well-known that a considerable number of Armenians migrate to Turkey for work, and often these jobs are not seasonal but can last for several years.

This issue has been raised directly by Turkish officials multiple times, and one of the prominent reasons for this intensified state policy is the deployment of Armenian peacekeeping forces to Syria in June 2018.

Furthermore, this matter has also sparked considerable debate in Armenia, particularly regarding the fact that these forces were sent 'secretly' without any discussion in parliament.

If these reports are confirmed, Armenia will face yet another serious problem, as various estimates suggest that between 70,000 to 100,000 Armenian citizens working in Turkey and sending money back home will be forced to return.
