Soon, There Will Be Few Streets Without Markings in Yerevan: Police Chief

The installation of cameras and speed radars is not an end in itself, stated the head of the Armenian Police Traffic Department, Egor Karapetyan, in a conversation with reporters. He informed that a study is underway regarding the deployment of speed radars, and once it is complete, they will address the mayors of cities and villages, particularly if the interstate road passes through their area. Karapetyan mentioned that a speed radar will be installed only if they receive the necessary permissions.

According to the Police Chief, the cameras remain in the same locations and have not been removed, while only the speed limit lower than 60 km/h has been eliminated regarding the speed radars.

The Police Chief also discussed road markings, noting that last year the weather conditions were more favorable, allowing for an earlier start on the markings. However, this year, unfavorable weather conditions delayed their progress.

"Of course, we have been working on the markings for more than 10 days. The asphalt needs to have the proper temperature so that the paint does not deteriorate. The work is being carried out during the nighttime hours, and soon there will be few streets left that are not marked," he stated, adding that the markings are made with reflective paint to ensure they are visible to drivers at night.
