BHK Threatens Early Elections: "Hraparak"
«Hraparak» newspaper writes: «If the government engages in the redistribution of the economic market and decides that there is indeed a problem with Gagik Tsarukyan's mandate, then our leader will not delay his response steps; we will all resign our mandates along with Tsarukyan,» said a source from BHK.
We asked one of the well-known constitutional experts what such a move would imply. «The constitution states that 30% of parliament must be opposition. Even without 'Bright Armenia', if BHK members resign their mandates, parliament will become unconstitutional. However, it should be noted that mandates must be resigned not only by all members of the BHK faction but also by all candidates included in the proportional list after them.
This unconstitutional situation will lead to early parliamentary elections,» he said.
Will all your party members go along with this, we asked a BHK member? «Don’t doubt it; if Tsarukyan says it, we will do it as one man.» And what then? «Mr. Tsarukyan intends to create a large coalition in the event of such developments and go to the elections with that coalition.» With whom? «Many have already expressed their willingness.»
