Major Car Accident in Yerevan: Gas Pipe Damaged, Injuries Reported

A major car accident occurred today in Yerevan. Around 00:15, on Myasnikyan Avenue, in front of the "Crazy" nightclub, two vehicles collided: a Mercedes with license plate 35 FT 664 driven by 50-year-old Avetik Martirosyan and a Hyundai with license plate 15 TO 015 driven by 25-year-old Shahen Shahinyan.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, both drivers were transported to the "Surp Grigor Lusavorich" Medical Center following the collision. The Hyundai vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a gas pipeline, and continued for about 100 meters over a grassy area before crashing into basalt stones and coming to rest in a non-traffic area. Rescuers disconnected the vehicles from power and cordoned off the area.

By the decision of G. Kirakosyan, the drivers were subjected to sobriety testing, which revealed that Shahen Shahinyan, the driver of the Hyundai, was under the influence of alcohol.
