Czech Hotel Refuses Service to Russians Who Do Not Criticize Crimea's Annexation by Russia

A hotel in the Czech Republic has refused service to Russian visitors who refuse to publicly condemn the annexation of Crimea by Russia. This was reported by Echo24, adding that the country's Constitutional Court found no evidence of discrimination in this hotel's actions.

The hotel in question is the Brioni Hotel located in the city of Ostrava. Back in April 2014, the Brioni Boutique Hotel placed an announcement stating that Russians could not stay there unless they signed a relevant declaration. Following this, the trade inspection fined the hotel 50,000 crowns for discriminatory practices against visitors. However, the Ostrava court sent the case for review, resulting in a reduced fine of 5,000 crowns. The Supreme Court rejected the hotel's appeal.

The Supreme Court's decision was later overturned by the Constitutional Court, which emphasized that visitors were aware of the conditions in advance and could have chosen other hotels.

The court also determined that the actions of the hotel management were in line with both Czech foreign policy and the policies of international organizations.
