Candidates for KP Party Leadership Must Now Pay an Entry Fee
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "The KPK congress is tentatively scheduled for June 15, although it is possible it may be moved a week either way. Yesterday was the deadline for submitting applications for membership on the board. About 60 candidates have stepped forward, despite an internal decision that the composition should be 19 or 21 members instead of the current 13.
A new rule has been established: anyone wishing to become a member of the KPK board must pay an so-called entry fee. "This is for campaign expenses," they told us. The entry fee has been set at 200,000 AMD. Candidates pay 50,000 initially to register and to give a pre-election speech at the congress, and then as a registered candidate, they pay an additional 150,000 AMD. If elected to the board, the full 200,000 will be refunded; if not elected, the money will go to the party budget."
