The ARF Prepares to Vote No Confidence in Pashinyan
According to a source from the newspaper ‘Hraparak’, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) will initiate a no-confidence process against Prime Minister Pashinyan in December. “The political tension will peak in May and June due to the processes and reductions involving Gazprom, the electricity distribution network, cement, and government optimization. In December, we will start the actual no-confidence process against Prime Minister Pashinyan,” the source told the newspaper.
When asked why December and not June or July, the response was: “Because a no-confidence vote can only be initiated one year after the official assumption of office.” But how can you start a no-confidence process without being represented in the National Assembly? Reports suggest that discussions are underway with parliamentary forces about the option of triggering a crisis by resigning the mandates of the entire proportional list. Is it true that you are negotiating with the Prosperous Armenia Party and the Bright Armenia Party?
“Such a scenario is being discussed; however, it is complicated to implement. Note that in March, regarding governance issues, Nikol Pashinyan had a 60% rating, which was before the incidents involving a transgender individual, a customs officer, and Davit Sanasaryan – in other words, Pashinyan’s rating is decreasing by 2% each month. Now, it is likely to accelerate more significantly, making December the most suitable time to move forward,” the ARF source told ‘Hraparak’.
According to the source from ‘Hraparak’, the most challenging issue is the formation of a common opposition platform, which has always been an unsolvable problem in Armenia.
