Levon Yeranosyan Questioned in Connection with Assault Case

Former commander of the RA Police Forces, Major General Levon Yeranosyan has been questioned in relation to a criminal case concerning an alleged brawl involving him.

This information was confirmed to NEWS.am by Aravik Khachatryan, head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor's Office. She noted that Levon Yeranosyan was questioned in the capacity of a witness, while another individual holds the status of a suspect.

It is important to recall that on April 7, around 9:00 PM, a dispute and brawl occurred on Komitas Avenue, involving Levon Yeranosyan's son and son-in-law. The victim reported to the police that he was assaulted by Khachik Yeranosyan, who is the son of Major General Levon Yeranosyan, and his son-in-law, Zhora Sarukhanyan. A criminal case was initiated under Article 118 of the RA Criminal Code. It should be noted that Major General Yeranosyan currently has the status of a defendant in another criminal case.

He is charged under the third part of Article 309 of the RA Criminal Code. According to the pre-trial body, in April 2018, he purposefully committed actions with the use of special means that clearly exceeded his authority and caused significant harm to the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, as well as carelessly resulted in severe consequences.
