Arayik Harutyunyan Appeals to Law Enforcement After Facebook User’s Post

Arayik Harutyunyan, the Minister of Education and Science, has reported a concerning Facebook post to law enforcement, stating, "If this character is real, he will face the full force of the law for false denunciation or defamation."

The Minister was responding to a post by a Facebook user named Vazgen Sagatelian.

In his post, Sagatelian shared an anecdote, saying, "A friend of mine, who personally knows one of the heroes of history, told me the following: A while ago, someone decided to improve relations with Arayik Harutyunyan. In the people's language, it's called 'to enter the den.' He found that the best way to do this was to give a valuable gift. Unfortunately, at that moment, the desires and financial capabilities were incompatible. So, he starts to think about which acquaintance he can ask for help and recalls that one of his old acquaintances owns a watch shop. He goes to the shop, tells a long story, and convinces the owner that after such gifts, he will most likely receive an official position and will not forget him. In short, he wants to borrow a watch worth 1 million drams.

The owner of the shop, an elderly man, politely refuses, stating that he does not like deals like this and urgently needs cash for his current expenses. However, our young man was very persistent. Eventually, seeing that there was no other way, the poor man gives him the watch. The young man takes the watch and happily gifts it to Arayik. A few days later, Arayik gives the watch to his brother, who is connected with another watch shop, and instructs him to cash the item since he doesn’t need it, and cash is good.

The brother takes it to the shop. There, they say they cannot accept it because it is not on their brands list but will try to contact someone else. They call the old acquaintance and inform him that they can offer a watch for 10-20% less than its real value, but they need cash to do it, as the shopkeeper requires the money.
