Today, April 29, former MP Vahan Babayan stated in a meeting with journalists that the Citizen's Day was merely an event of an agitative nature, nothing more.

“In global practice, there is no such thing as Citizen's Day; it is an artificial idea that serves the propaganda and consolidation of power. It is merely an agitative event. They could have designated a day for the revolution, which would have been appropriate, since if they claim to have made a revolution and believe in it, they could have noted this day, as many countries celebrate their revolution,” he mentioned.

Vahan Babayan emphasized that Citizen’s Day had a very local character. “We saw that Citizen's Day had a very local character. Of course, expectations were that people would come out onto the streets and celebrate as they did a year ago, but there is none of that and there will be none because the euphoria that existed a year ago is no longer there. Even on social networks, if you remove the fakes and gullible people who support the government, there are very few left defending them,” he stated.

In his opinion, many events in our history could have been established in the calendar, but he emphasized that Citizen's Day was the day of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's team. “This is an artificial situation that I would call a paper shack, which can collapse at any moment. The only support of the current government is Facebook fakes and gullible people,” he noted.

Commentator Karine Hakobyan also expressed her view that the holiday itself was a good idea, but it should be celebrated in a more cultured manner, and for that, the level of education of the people should be raised.

It should be noted that for the organization of events dedicated to Citizen's Day, the Government of Armenia allocated 124 million drams from the reserve fund.
