It Is Known Which Judge Will Review Robert Kocharian's Case

It has become known that the case of the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, has been assigned to judge Vardan Grigoryan. This was reported by ArmLur.am.

Earlier, the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reported that several judges had repeatedly refused to take Kocharian's case for various reasons, which later led to disciplinary actions against them. Specifically, it was reported that the case concerning the extension of Robert Kocharian's detention and his release on bail was assigned to judge Davit Grigoryan on January 11, 2019. According to information obtained by 'Zhoghovurd', judge Grigoryan also refused to hear the case, claiming that he had been assigned the case on January 10, but he was not on duty that day. In other words, the judge insisted on maintaining his duty roster; however, he was explained that the duty schedule was irrelevant, and since the case had been assigned to him, he was obligated to review it.

Regardless, he still declined to hear the case. Consequently, the issue of bringing Davit Grigoryan to disciplinary responsibility has been raised, and it is currently with the Supreme Judicial Council. However, the matter was not discussed on April 25, as the judge did not appear due to being on sick leave.
