Another Loss at the Zoo: Why the Tiger Named Bingo Died

Another Loss at the Zoo: Why the Tiger Named Bingo Died

The Yerevan Zoo deeply regrets to inform that this morning, after a prolonged illness, the natural death of the Zoo's Bengal tiger, Bingo, was recorded.

Bingo had lived at the Zoo for 10 years, spending most of his life in an inadequately small enclosure, without a pool or green space. He was moved to a newly built spacious exhibit in 2015, where he particularly enjoyed strolling on sunny days. The origins of Bingo were unknown; the tiger was donated to the Zoo 10 years ago with an amputated tail.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of invited veterinarians from the Moscow and London Zoos and local veterinarians, along with the applied treatments and conducted procedures, it was established through biochemical laboratory analyses, instrumental examinations, and visual inspections that Bingo's condition was incompatible with life. There were written veterinary instructions regarding euthanasia due to the impossibility of alleviating the animal's suffering from an incurable disease and to prevent further pain and distress; however, this was not applied.
