Osipyan on Nephew's Involvement in Stabbing: Details

Initially, they suggested that my nephew, Sedrak, take the blame for the stabbing, as they said, 'Your uncle is a high-ranking official; he will help you.' This was stated by the Chief of the Police of Armenia, Valery Osipyan, during a conversation with Azatutyun at the National Security Service’s border troops administration.

He assures that he has no influence over the case and that his nephew is not the stabber. “If I had any influence, I would have acted from the very beginning to ensure that this case was not reopened. Secondly, I am confident that my brother’s son is not involved, I just know it. The investigative body will prove that,” Osipyan said.

“I would ask everyone not to associate me with this case and not to address me with questions related to it. I have absolutely no connection with it; I am engaged in matters of greater importance, I hold a responsible position, and I would like to work within the confines of my duties,” he added.

In the stabbing case that occurred in 2014 in Nubarashen, Valery Osipyan's nephew is charged with causing serious harm to health intentionally and hooliganism under Articles 112 part 1 and 258 part 4 of the Criminal Code. The Investigative Committee informed Hetq.am that there are currently four defendants in the case, one of whom is Sedrak Osipyan.

It is worth mentioning that in June 2014, an incident involving Osipyan's nephew occurred, resulting in Vanush Aleksanyan being stabbed. Doctors had to remove Aleksanyan's spleen after he was transferred to the hospital.
