Garo Paylan Inquires About Armenian Genocide Documents from Erdogan's Assistant

Garo Paylan, an Armenian member of the Turkish Parliament, has directed an inquiry to Fuad Oktay, assistant to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, regarding the existence of documents related to the Armenian Genocide in the state archives. The full inquiry has been presented by Armenpress.

“We sent the following inquiry to Fuad Oktay, assistant to the President of the Republic, demanding a response:

In the statement made by President Erdogan on April 24, 2019, on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, it was noted, ‘Our archives are open to all those whose aim is to reveal the truth. We have no secrets.’ Thus, it was emphasized that all state archives are open to all researchers.

Therefore, we ask about the fate of the war court records from 1919-1922, aimed at prosecuting the perpetrators of crimes against humanity committed against the Armenian people. Researchers report that these records are not available to them.

Are the war court records not located in the state archives? When were the aforementioned records first registered in the archives? When and under what archive listing were the records last noted? Where are these records stored, and in which archive, if claims regarding the absence of originals or their inaccessibility do not correspond to reality? How will researchers, who ‘wish to uncover the truth,’ be able to access these records?” the statement reads.
