Attempt to Stop a Loaded UAZ Ends with Driver Fleeing

In the context of the fight against environmental protection and illegal logging, officers from the Tumanyan division of the police attempted to stop a UAZ vehicle loaded with timber for inspection on April 18 at around 19:00 on the Karinjan-Martz road. However, the driver did not stop the vehicle and fled towards the village of Karinjan.

As a result of the measures taken, information was obtained that the vehicle was driven by Mamikon M., born in 1997, who fled the scene, unloaded the timber in his uncle's backyard, and hid.

In an effort to verify the information, a visit was conducted on the same day at around 22:30, and approximately 2 cubic meters of timber was discovered in the backyard of a house in the village of Karinjan. The homeowner and his family members reported that the timber had appeared in their yard between 17:00 and 21:00 that day and had no information about the person who unloaded it.

A professional inspection has been appointed.

On April 25, during the preparation of materials, Mamikon M. provided an explanation that he himself had prepared the mentioned timber using a chainsaw, cutting down a 1 cubic meter poplar from the forest near the village of Martz at around 17:00 on April 18. He also stated that on the same day, at around 19:00, he did not comply with the police officers' legal request to stop his vehicle because he did not have the necessary documents for the acquisition of timber and for driving the vehicle.

Investigations are underway.
