Why Has Arthur Aleksanyan's Wrestling Training Facility Not Been Renovated Yet? The Prime Minister Asks the Minister of Sports

During today’s government meeting, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue of the Olympic, World, and European champion Arthur Aleksanyan's wrestling training facility.

He stated that he has heard at least a few times on television that there are plans to renovate Arthur Aleksanyan's wrestling school, where around 600 children train. “What is the reason we haven't done this yet?” he asked acting Sports Minister Gabrielyan Ghazaryan.

“This issue has been discussed since 2015; it’s not just about Arthur Aleksanyan's training facility, but rather that many children train there, and every year we present priorities to the Sports Committee,” Gabrielyan Ghazaryan replied.

He also mentioned that yesterday they discussed this topic with the head of the Sports Committee and are expected to meet today or tomorrow to advance negotiations regarding funding. “This is actually one of the priority issues,” he stated.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that they need to move to the practical phase on this matter. According to the Prime Minister, the athletes who serve as inspirational examples should see that Armenia appreciates their contributions to the state.
