Dissatisfaction with Reconstructed Interstate Road in Alaverdi Region

For several years now, the Vanadzor-Bagratashen road leading to the Georgia border has been under renovation. In some sections, the work is fully completed, while in others, the reconstruction is progressing at a rapid pace. The road passing through Alaverdi, which is also included in the interstate road reconstruction, has been in a state of disrepair for about 5 months. Traveling along this section has become a real nightmare not only for the residents of Alaverdi but also for all drivers passing through the city, reports Armtimes.com.

More than 5 months after the asphalt layer was removed for reconstruction purposes, the road has become even more impassable. The same state of disrepair is evident on the city’s two main bridges as well. Alaverdi residents have repeatedly voiced their concerns about the city’s roads and the slow progress of the work using all possible platforms. Just yesterday, drivers from the Baghramyan district held a protest demanding expedited work.

Alaverdi resident Sevak Martirosyan states that the situation is dire, and the organization responsible for the work is exhibiting irresponsible behavior, causing distress and damages to the residents. “We have been patient for 6 months, but the cup of people’s patience is already full; there is no more room for patience,” he said.

Another driver suggested that instead of receiving an answer, they are only seen taking pictures of the vehicles that have completely broken down due to the potholes. “There’s no suspension left, nothing. They promised to start in 2 days, but if they don’t start in 2 days, we will hold protests again,” he stated.

No one takes responsibility for the financial losses suffered by drivers or the inconveniences caused to residents, as they assert that the premature removal of the asphalt layer was merely a result of poor calculations.
