Charges Filed Against Armavir Leader for Embezzlement
The investigation conducted by the Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee regarding the case of embezzlement committed by the head of the Armavir community has been concluded. Charges have been brought against the accused. This was reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee.
According to the gathered data during the investigation, since assuming the position in October 2002, the head of the Armavir community, possessing the authority to organize and manage the delegated powers of the state independently and under personal responsibility, approved salary lists containing obviously false information during the years 2014-2017, based on the non-attendance of a group of employees hired in the rural community of Armavir. By using his official position, he embezzled a substantial amount of 565,267 AMD from community funds.
Specifically, individuals working as a cultural center trainer, a driver, and a guard within the community bodies left for abroad with the knowledge of the community leader during their employment. While these individuals were absent from the Republic of Armenia, false information was entered into the employee attendance register, leading to the creation of payroll lists that included their data. Aware of the absences of these employees, the community leader, driven by personal motives, endorsed the payroll lists containing obviously false information with his signature, thereby embezzling large sums transferred to the bank accounts of these employees using his official position.
During the investigation, the damages caused by the community leader amounting to 565,267 AMD have been fully restored.
Based on the sufficient evidence obtained, the leader of the Armavir community has been charged under parts 1 and 3 of Article 179 and part 1 of Article 314 of the RA Criminal Code. A measure of restraint in the form of a signature not to leave has been chosen for him.
