A Clean Yerevan Will Be Mandatory: Hayk Marutyan
A clean Yerevan will be mandatory, and we are on that path, stated Mayor Hayk Marutyan during a break in the Yerevan City Council meeting today.
“We are providing comprehensive solutions to the problem. Initially, we told ‘Sanitek’ that if you ensure your normal operation and maintain the cleanliness of Yerevan, we would be more than happy. However, we have seen that they are lacking. That is why we are taking the measures that you see,” noted the mayor.
The City Council meeting included a discussion on the creation of a municipal institution for “Yerevan Waste Collection and Sanitation” and the approval of its charter.
In response to a question about the progress of work after imposing a fine of 13 million drams on ‘Sanitek,’ Hayk Marutyan replied, “Overall, I am not satisfied with the company’s performance, but there has been a slight improvement compared to prior to the fine.”
