David Sanasaryan Accuses Pashinyan
The newspaper "168 Hours" reports that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has approved the investigator's decision and temporarily suspended the head of the Republic of Armenia's State Control Service, David Sanasaryan, from his position. The National Security Service (NSS) has announced that David Sanasaryan has been charged under Part 1 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code.
David Sanasaryan himself has stated that the criminal case against him is fabricated. In general, the events surrounding the head of the State Control Service are quite multi-layered. There is an impression that we are dealing with some sort of internal governmental conflict.
On the other hand, David Sanasaryan's statement about the case being fabricated is very symbolic. If he is correct, it implies that all criminal cases initiated in post-revolutionary Armenia could also be fabricated.
Moreover, by his statement, Sanasaryan indirectly accuses Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, since the NSS is subordinate to him, just like the State Control Service led by Sanasaryan.
It turns out that one of the structures subordinate to the Prime Minister has initiated a case against the head of another structure that is also answerable to the Prime Minister, while the latter claims that the case is fabricated.
David Sanasaryan was one of the most active participants in the Velvet Revolution, and we are evidently facing a situation where the revolution is consuming its own children.
