Vanavan Village Mayor Dismissed from Office

The head of the Vanavan community in Gegharkunik Province, Norayr Harutyunyan, has had his powers terminated by a decision from the governor. The former mayor confirmed this news to Tert.am.

“We had post-election protests, and due to those protests, my powers have been terminated,” Norayr Harutyunyan stated.

He did not answer any further questions.

It is noteworthy that Vanavan resident Atom Mkrtchyan had declared a hunger strike on April 11, demanding the mayor's resignation. Several protests have taken place demanding the resignation, including one in front of the government building.
