Gas Imports from Russia Decrease
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that while the volume of gas imported into Armenia increased in 2018 compared to the previous year, this was at the expense of gas imported from Iran, as imports from Russia decreased.
Zhoghovurd clarified that Armenia received 2 billion 463.4 million cubic meters of gas in 2018, compared to 2 billion 378.7 million cubic meters in 2017. There has been a significant increase in the volume of gas imported from Iran, while less gas has been brought in from Russia.
Compared to 2017, gas imports from Russia decreased by 56.4 million cubic meters. In 2017, 1 billion 996 million cubic meters of gas were imported from Russia, while in 2018 this figure was 1 billion 939.6 million cubic meters.
As for gas imports from Iran, the volume increased by 141.1 million cubic meters in 2018. In 2017, 382.7 million cubic meters of gas was delivered from Iran, and that number reached 523.8 million cubic meters last year.
At the same time, it is noteworthy that during 2018, the volume of gas consumption by the population decreased by 67.4 million cubic meters compared to 2017, while the usage by industrial companies increased by 16.4 million cubic meters.
