April 20 to be Marked as International Marijuana Day in Freedom Square
An event has been created on Facebook to celebrate International Marijuana Day. More than 200 users have already confirmed their participation in the event, according to Tert.am.
April 20 is recognized as International Marijuana Day, and the organizers invite people to gather at Freedom Square at 16:20 on that day.
"On this day, people gather in many cities around the world to become familiar with and discuss their country's policies regarding marijuana. Please note that this is not a protest or demonstration; we will not be putting forward any demands or grievances against the government or other state bodies," reads the event description.
It is noteworthy that the Yerevan Municipality is not aware of such an event taking place. This was stated by the mayor's press secretary, Hakob Karapetyan, in a conversation with Tert.am.
The organizers of International Marijuana Day are also urging participants to remain sober and to not possess any illegal substances.
"Informational banners regarding the fields of marijuana use, its beneficial effects, and the results of its usage around the world are encouraged to be brought. The aim of the action is to present information to the public about the consequences of marijuana use and the image of its users, which has been distorted for decades," mentions the text published by the event organizers.
